first-time entrepreneurs

If this is your first time starting a business, OG takes time to help you understand the design and development process. She helps you understand what each service she provides does and how you can best leverage it for your organization’s growth and goals. She’ll work with you through the years until you’re ready to hire your own in-house team.

organizations + product teams

OG has gone into large to mid-sized organizations and helped their design or development team with launching products and new services. Many times she’s called upon to introduce Ux to product teams for the first time. She’s helped organizations with complete redesigns, WCAG compliance, Ux research, and service design.

Olivia F. Gresham Detroit Website Designer and Developer
Olivia F. Gresham

Detroit website designer and Michigan native, Olivia F. Gresham started coding at the age of twelve, in 1999. She was introduced to HTML by her father, a self-employed software developer. Already leaning towards design from previous years of creating jewelry and sewing, she learned to design and develop websites simultaneously.

After her freshman year of high school 2001 and a few projects done for her school. Her father helped her land a paid internship with Ohio FAIR Plan, an insurance company he was designing software for. She interned as a website designer and front-end developer creating the help system for the in-house software. She came back for three summers straight coding and designing.

Fast-forward to her junior and senior year of high school she took 3D animation classes and decided to pursue a career as a 3D animator. So she attended The Savannah College of Art and Design and absolutely hated 2D animation, a prerequisite for 3D animation and switched to Visual Effects as a major at the end of her freshman year. She then added Industrial Design as a second major in Fall 2005, the start of her second year of college. By the end of her sophomore year she majored in Visual Effects with a minor in Composition and majored in Industrial Design with a minor in Interaction Design. In May 2009, she graduated burnt out and didn’t design or code for seven months.

On Thanksgiving Day, she came home exhausted from working at Waffle House and was so upset she was too tired to make her own dinner she decided to launch her own business so she’d never had to work another Thanksgiving. For a few months she juggled two jobs while launching OGiDesigns and attracting clients. In February she landed her first major contract with Trevelino Keller working on brands like Ritz Camera and Wolf Image, Verizon Wireless, and Delta Community Bank.

Since then, OG has sharpened and continues to pick up new skills to ensure clients are given the best and remain in the best position to thrive. She collaborates with others bringing them in on projects when needed.

Clients love her dedication to helping them thrive, the access they have to her, her personalized approach, and her experience with Ux research and design. So whether you’re a new entrepreneur looking for an affordable website for your startup or an organization needing help with designing a new web application, OG will make sure you understand what she’s doing and why.

Under her watch, clients have won awards for their web applications, reached an international audience in under three years, have drastically improved their new feature acceptance rate by their users. Don’t just take our word for it, read what others have to say.

philosophy

OG takes a user-centered design approach to all projects. Believing that all elements of a design process should go through an iterative evaluation and be contained even defined by research findings.

OGiDesigns philosophy

principles

You shouldn't be in the dark. Ever.

We don’t expect you to know everything coming in, but we expect you to make informed decisions. So we’ll explain the power and impact of each service we offer and how you can best leverage these services for your goals and business needs.

Design for glory.

OG loves to disrupt industries…if her clients allow her. If you want to play it safe, she’ll play along. But if you provide a product or service that the world needs, she’ll help you put your best foot forward. We aim to win awards, to help you become the best and sometimes the first to ever do it.

The final product should enact a physical response.

Ever since a client told OG “I could smack” a response that normally is associated with someone eating an amazing plate of food. She’s sought to pleasantly surprise her clients. From hugs to screams of joy. These types of feedback are what makes what we do worthwhile, but please don’t actually smack us.

You don't need everything at first.

Sometimes clients ask for something they’re not ready for, yes, even a website. We’d hate to design a beautifully interactive website just for the owner to fail at keeping it updated. Your website and everything else we create for you is meant to be an investment. If you don’t need something or if we feel you’re just not ready for something, we’ll let you know. Allow us to help you cultivate your brand and business.

You're in for life.

“OG” isn’t just her initials, you’ve joined her gang and she’s passionately protective of her gang. So even after you’ve grown to the point of needing your own in-house team. She’s there to help you, even if you simply need to vent, boss to boss. Regardless she doesn’t want you to be screwed over by anyone. She certainly doesn’t want all the work she’s done for you to be put in jeopardy. So whenever you’re about to make a new move, reach out.

We're not your target audience.

Design decisions will largely be determined by your target audience and active users. Even if we fit within your demographic, anyone on this side of the business brings a bias that can be deterimental to the success of your business. So the opinions of those not the intended target will have very little impact on many design decisions. The feedback of your target audience and users matters most.

Plan for the future.

Typically when OG is envolved, most can’t see beyond their current phase of the organization, product, feature, or service. But scalability and long-term goals should be accounted for at the foundation. Whatever we create for you is meant to be an investment, a seed plated in the ground work that we hope to see grow and thrive over the next few decades.

mission

Detroit, webiste designer and developer, Olivia F. Gresham has set out to be a one-stop-shop for all things design and development. Targeting new entrepreneurs and product teams. She requires transparency and loves collaboration. Seeing her clients turned friends thrive and become design snobs is very important. As is helping product teams launch widely accepted features. These are her end-goals at the start of every product. Are you ready for OG to tap-in?
